Keep this San Antonio icon alive! Eat at Luby's at least once a month! It's good comfort food :)
My almandine fish with tartar sauce was flavorful, though a little soggy.
The sides of macaroni and squash/zucchini were on point, and the roll was tasty, but dry. I really like the mango tea :) My daughter got a huge kids meal, including drink and jello, for only $6!
Our server, Michel, was working the entire room with politeness and helpfulness.
Good value, good food, good memories!

We went here with a group of 4 for lunch on a Thursday. The restaurant is clean, and the food is on par with other Luby's in the area, so no complaints there. It wasn't busy at all, so we were able to go through the line very quickly, and the food was fresh and hot.
The dining room servers were attentive when we sat, collected our trays and got us initial refills. But when it came time to pack up our food and get to-go stuff...we seemed to become invisible. For the life of me, I could not manage to catch the attention of a single server on the floor, so I ended up waiting a full ten minutes, before I just got up and walked all the way up to the main counter to ask for to-go boxes and drinks.
Do yourselves a favor and go to the Luby's on 1604/Blanco, in the future. Better service, same good food, and less shady area. The only reason we went to this one was because we were already in a shopping center nearby and were craving Luby's fish and mac & cheese.

My first time. Stood in line forever just for a serving of fresh green beans. The person in front of me ordered a side of green beans and the server gave him ALL the green beans. More than his size of a side. She was trying to empty the dish. When it was my turn, there weren't any there, and none to be had.... at 7 pm.
On my second visit, I waited for green beans, and they had none.
The servers start cleaning up about 7:30, which is disruptive for people still trying to eat.
    It's just an expensive cafeteria.
Not impressed. No wonder they're not busy.

Came here for dinner as it's a fairly regular stop for family. The food is better than before with more variety. However, i recommend sticking to some of the more basic fare and lowering your expectations to above-average cafeteria food.

What Luby's offers is a variety of items (salad, entree, sides, dessert at a price under $12 per person. You can satisfy many different preferences and they can easily make room for a larger group as their tables are moveable. This restaurant is also very family friendly as children often get a free dessert with an accompanying adult. Sometimes, they even get to eat free.

Personally, I always get either the fish almandine, baked chicken, or something that isn't easy to become dry. For sides, they have a good variety of vegetables and carb-items (macaroni, etc.) along with a free bread. The food used to taste very salty to me, but a few years ago they made some changes and it's about at the right amount of flavor.

The staff in the dining room are usually very friendly and nice. They take away your dishes and greet you.

In general, I haven't had an amazing meal here, but I definitely feel comfortable coming and getting the same type of food and expect to get about the same taste each time. More importantly, this place would be great for families and especially those with children.

Horrible customer service at this place . We tried the breakfast buffet yesterday. Greeted by some old grumpy lady who never smiled or greeted anyone. Most of the food was out , what was there was old and needed to be tossed. Cinnamon bun was only highlight. We ordered flour tortilla and toast in the line , waited 20 minutes, asked several times where they are ? After 30 minutes the lady working the tables said they are out of tortillas! How about a manager running up to HEB and picking up some bread and tortillas? It's was 9:30 am !
    Never again.
